Virtual Dj Windows
Can you dj with just a laptop and no other equipment?
I was thinking about buying a laptop to dj trance at a club. Just for fun mostly. If I bought a very powerful windows based laptop and ran virtual dj, could I get away without using any other equipment? Just use the laptop.
Ok, minus the PA system. The club has all that. 
ok minus PA system and stuff, it is possible, but, people are going to think you are a joke, you will look like you’re checking your email, your mixes wont be good, and uuuuuhhh just don’t do it. oh and i wouldn’t take a dj running virtual dj at a club seriously either. So, at the very least what you need to do is get a midi controller( gives you hands on manipulation of your software, instead of using just your mouse and keyboard) and you’ll need a rather good controller too, as goes for all your other equipment if you will be dj’ing at a club. When dj’ing in a public place like a club, it is hard to get away with using cheaper equipment (dj’ing isn’t cheap), but if you will just be doing it in your home then its not a problem. As for what midi controller to buy, i would say to get the Numark Ns7, the Vestax Vci-300, Denon DN-hd2500 or the Dn-HC4500. If you dont want to buy a midi controller then you will have to give up the laptop and use cd/mp3 players or turntables. Although you could get turntables and use the music off your laptop on timecoded vinyl which is used with any turntable so thats another option, a good software would be Serato Scratch Live, Traktor scratch or Torq.
