Turntable Platter Mat

Want to help me find an audiophile quality input plate?

I'm trying to find an entry level audiophile quality dish not have to remove the platter to change the speed of the turntable. I prefer either semi or fully automatic operation, but I'm told that these elements at the expense the overall sound quality and that the "best" audiophile turntables are fully manual. You must also have a lever to advance. I guess all of them have anti-skating function. Is that true? I prefer matte black compared to spending more on some other color. Do they all come with construction arm solid or is there a removable head. I was told that a solid construction arm is better for sound quality. A removable head could be more easy for me to work with him. Can this be done for under $ 500? And, of course + taxes + S & H.

A Technics SL-1200 MKII would be absolutely ideal for your needs. It meets all requirements and is a brilliantly engineered, a cover of audiophile quality. You will not find anything better for $ 500 or less. Even with a decent budget cartridge (Audio Technica AT440MLa is good) and laugh. Ignore the bleating of audiophile snobs who insist that you buy a belt-Plinth Hand-guided MDF Rega clone handmade by peasants of Ukraine, the kind you have to remove the platter to change speeds. These dishes are successful, but not so good as the Technics. Nor is it anywhere near as solidly built and easy to use. I did once try something called-Ject professional debut, a fact the Rega Czech lookalike with change Speed button, and frankly I was disappointed with the quality. The engine was very noisy too. I changed to a Technics and I've been listening happily ever since.
