Comptuer / music help please! I have an USB turntable plugged into my Mac, but the Audacity software can not see
Used to work. Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong /! Thank you.
Hello – I am pasting the material I think is relevant from the Audacity wiki (link below) Configure Audacity to record from the turntable then connect the USB cable from the turntable to the computer, created in Audacity, go to the tab Audio I / O Preferences: 1. Select "USB Audio CODEC" as the recording device and select the sound or sound card built its name as the playback device. Do not choose "Microsoft SoundMapper "if you're on Windows. 2. Enable" software bet if you want to hear the turntable through your computer speakers while recording. 3. Set recording channels to "2 (stereo)" if you want to record in stereo, otherwise leave established recording channels "1 (mono)." 4. Go to the toolbar and turn the mixer on the left output volume control (by the speaker symbol). The entrance on the right volume control (with the microphone symbol) will not work with USB turntables, so it is not possible to vary the input level in Audacity. If you're on a Mac, too you must click on the Mac's hard drive, then Applications> Utilities> Audio MIDI Setup. Click the Sound tab, then the left, select "USB Audio CODEC" in the entry for "Default" and "Properties" combo. If you're in OS X 10.1 or earlier, go to Apple> System Preferences Menu> Sound, click the input button and select "USB Audio CODEC." 5. Make sure your project Rate bottom left of the Audacity screen is set to 44 100 Hz 6. Then, ignoring the instructions of the manufacturer's guide to select "stereo mix" just press the record button in Audacity to start recording platform. Hope this helps. Cheers AB
