What makes DJ scratching so musically attractive?
imo, the very basis of music is to create something that appeals to the listener. What exactly is scratching makes it so appealing to listeners? many people say, "because it sounds good." in a way, is a good and a bad response. What is your opinion? Q2: Are there any rap group / individual who are / is more influential than Run DMC? Assuming considering that the music then, I shall appeal to me in a way that I can not explain. I enjoy it. I could not tell you why more than I could tell you why I think a bird call sounds better than another. I like it because it gives me joy, I need not go beyond that for me. Because when you start breaking things that you like, makes them more difficult to enjoy. There is no defining characteristic of DJ scratch musically attractive, but when placed in the correct spot of a song, I think it adds to my personal listening experience. I do not know why, but it does, so I hope people continue to do so. Well Krs 1 and Tupac are probably most sought after rappers ever, so maybe in terms of individual influence, but Run DMC made rap music basically make more passionate. Before them all funk rhythms and disco era, the sound much softer. Run DMC sample rock music because it was "strong." And I think that rebel mentality can be found in most acts of hip hop today.
