How do I wire this audio jack?
The jack on my AKG K81 DJ headphones broke (these are my babies) and I removed everything in order to rewire the jack connection. However, I find the jack to be quite odd.
I tried putting on the headphones and trying one mono wire, the two wires inside, at different places on the jack. No sound.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I figured out the small coated wire in both was the actual current/sound input (don’t know what sign) and the more loose wires the current return (don’t know if it’s called ground).
Is it normal I recieve no sound when trying to make that connection? The thing is I don’t want to solder anything anywhere… Where should I solder each wire? I don’t want to mess up the R/L sides either!

You can assume the fine colored wire is signal, the loose wire the ground. The red one is likely Right. Its signal connects to the middle terminal on the plug. Left connects to the end terminal, and ground the inside terminal.
You will need to solder that though, to melt off the enamel insulation on the wires.
