Should remixes be used for DJ-ing a high school dance?
I was just hired to DJ for a Sadie Hawkins style dance. Should I spend my time looking for good remixes of popular songs, or just play the songs like the students would hear on the radio?
I was just hired to DJ for a Sadie Hawkins style dance. Should I spend my time looking for good remixes of popular songs, or just play the songs like the students would hear on the radio? Also, do I want to play songs they for sure know, or great songs I know?
How to pick the songs: search the top ten songs each week in the past couple of months and also perfect dance songs everybody loves (like “Low” by FloRida, or “L.O.V.E” by Ashlee Simpson”). Then take the dance-able songs and use those, and the others, see if there’s a remix that is dance-able. Don’t use remixes of songs that don’t need to have that extra dance-feel.
