Disc Jockeys, what are the basic pieces of equipment needed to DJ with a laptop?
I have a question for any Disc Jockeys. My year-old nephew wants to start DJ-13 with your laptop. I wonder what are the basic pieces of equipment required? Is it only a mixer, turntables, laptop, and a speaker that he needs? And it may be able to just use the laptop to DJ without the plate? What are some good programs to use a DJ using only a laptop, mixer and speakers (except the plate)?
It all depends on what type of DJ you want. If you are looking for music from scratch, you'll need turntables (or digital decks and Pioneer-800). Basics for mixing music (Equipment sufficient for a wedding dj, club etc. ..) including: Laptop connected to the cable y (a cable with a headphone jack on one end, and red and white (RCA) at the other end. The RCA connectors on one end of the channel mixer. Mixer plugs into either 1) an amplifier connected to speakers, or 2) speakers (with technology ', the speaker has an amp inside). For software, I recommend Virtual DJ. You can get a trial version on www.virtualdj.com, and to acquire the complete set with external sound card is about $ 499. But for now, you can only practice.
