What Wedding DJs Wish You Knew about choosing one
Wedding couples are frustrated. DJs are frustrated. There's a disconnect here. But what exactly is the problem?
It depends on whom you ask. DJs continually wonder why brides and grooms treat the mobile DJ – the type of terminal that around your computer to perform at major events and weddings – as a commodity. In other words, couples shop prices without mercy, as if a particular DJ is interchangeable with the rest.
Paul Arnett (http://www.mybigdaydj.co.uk), a Yorkshire DJ and Nadj (National Association of Disc Jockeys) The mobile user organizations of the United Kingdom DJ Show North events (http://www.djshownorth.co.uk), puts the problem like this: "Well, your average couple spends hours deliberating over the dress. You manually catering companies. You pore over flowers and sweat in the flower shop. You spend hours choosing just the right place and church – not to mention the time the favors. "
"But then to go out and hire a DJ because he is ten dollars cheaper than the next. Or who is a friend of your brother, or he does Tuesdays at the local bar. You can not even see it working, check out your computer, or meet with him personally to make sure it is adequate. "
Most couples handle every other major item in their budget differently. You do not choose one place over another, since costs a hundred dollars less. Few brides with a budget to work with buy their cakes from the discount store, even though the cake (dipped in tubs of "BetterCream" icing) would be much cheaper a bakery in the design center. Instead, investigate. They take pictures. Fillers amaretto taste tests and hors d'oeuvres. And finally, are installed in It seems that the vendor will offer the best experience for their guests.
– Why is it so different with DJs?
Part of the answer is a problem image, says Paul. "People perceive that most mobile DJs turn up to fifteen minutes before time with a pair of speakers and some cheesy 1970-around screens light, and play "all Agadoo" night. "(For a fortunate few who have not heard the song often Agadoo 1984 letters as" the worst song of all time. ")
We all feel confident identifying an excellent meal or a sublime dessert. But few of us feel comfortable DJs evaluate the same way. We know that good can "start the party," but we're not sure how to tell good from bad.
Some people think so poorly of DJs prefer to eliminate them completely, soundtracking dance the night with iPods or laptops. This is not easy – it requires you rent good face on your computer, find someone to mind the iPod, possibly buy insurance, and somehow get around or ignore the technical issues, such as inevitable takes three seconds between songs you get on an iPod. And yet, some people find that preferable to risking Agadoo "or" Chicken Dance "scenario your big day.
An iPod might be better than a bad DJ. But the DJ is a key element of its receipt of five hours, and some of them are very good indeed.
– When she was good she was very very good
Perhaps it is difficult for the bride and groom a half to understand the difference between a green DJ with low-end computers, and mature knows how to transform shy and retiring Clark Kent superheroes dance floor.
The first may be nothing more than a glorified CD changer. May or may not have a solid understanding of different musical needs that accompany standard reception rituals, like the cake cutting or father / daughter dance. It is possible that the shoe in Peavy subwoofers and arranging low-end sound system so that they ignore the peculiarities of their venue.
The latter may Master of Ceremonies have hundreds of weddings. Along the way, he has developed something subtle, but important, known as the voice and personality – not an imitation a radio announcer, but hers. He does not practice at his wedding, he brings his skills, along with a high sound system-the-line, which we will organize differently depending on factors like whether your site is divided into several chambers (the cocktail lounge and banquet area, for example).
If is a gearhead, one might even offer special lighting capabilities that could not happen, such as the ability to shine gobos on the dance floor – gobos are custom templates that display things like the monogram of the wedding. Some even offer video screens DJs live and replays of the key at reception.
But the most important skills a good DJ will bring to your wedding is a sharp personality, a formal image to use, and an absolute mastery of what multitudes on their feet.
Well, from what I understand. You understand that not all DJ's are equal, and that brings a good deal wedding as any premium florist or baker. So how to find it?
– Select DJs who take their job seriously
Skip the part-time – who are still learning the trade, and they will be practicing at her wedding. Instead, look for full-time, showing their commitment to the profession through membership of professional associations such as DJ CPDJA, Adja,
