Ive got a peavey fx24 mixer, and features digital effects. can anyone explain what these effects?
the mixer has sound effects as compression, gate, and dsp many more. i need a bit of a breakdown.
Wow. Are you still awake? This mixer is used in live applications to mix a live performance. The different effects are designed to improve performance. A compressor will only allow sound to reach so high, thinking it as an automatic volume control. If the sound becomes too hard the compressor is automatically turned down. A gate is a noise reduction because it works the opposite of a compressor. If no sound, turns the volume immediately, which eliminates the hiss of natural places. DSP is all reverb and delay for chorus and flange. These effects are used to improve the sound of a performance by the addition of space with echo and doubling effects. It is used sparingly and in combination with each other these effects can be the difference between a lackluster performance and one that really stands out.
