Ghanaian Denies Sack
The 23-year-old’s stay at Guingamp has been characterized limited first team appearances and has dropped on the pecking order.
The former Ghana Under-23 team captain has one year left on his contract but reports are rife he will be offloaded in the summer.
“When I came, it was very good for me but this season has been a disastrous season for me because we had a new coach and he also brought in new players,” Helegbe told Charles Osei Asibey of asibeysports.com
” He also brought me Oruma from Marseille and you know playing the same position with Oruma it’s going to be difficult and moreover the coach brought him.
“For me I have been discussing with my manager and he’s looking for other options for me and whatever comes out, I will take it from there,” he continued.
“But am still with the club and if nothing comes out from there, maybe i will stay and finish my year contract and look at the future.”
Helegbe who played for Liberty Professionals in Ghana, also captained the Ghana National U-17 and U-20.
He played in Portugal, Italy and Greece. He’s from the club Essien, Muntari, Asamoah Djan etc all played for.

3 January 2007: Ghana’s Olympic team captain Michael Helegbe has joined French second division side Guingamp.
The 21-year-old moves from the local side Liberty Professionals on a three-year contract. The midfielder will join his new club on 16 January. Helegbe becomes Guingamp’s first January transfer window signing. He joined Norwegian side Brann on loan in 2005 but was not able to secure a permanent deal.
