What equipment do I need to become a laptop Dj?
I have Traktor installed, a friend gave me what 2 Numark turntables and a Mixer. What else do i need to set up a full system and be able to start spinning?
That depends on your media. If you’re planning on using Traktor to control MP3s and use only that as youre media, you need a Traktor Certified audio interface, which hooks up to your PC (and you hook your tables up to it). Then you also need time-coded vinyl which send signals through the interface to your computer to allow Traktor to know where you’re at and what you’re doing.
Keep in mind even without the interface most mixers have a booth or monitor out, allowing you to hook cables up to those and put them in the Line-In of your PC. This allows you to use your PC as a soundcard but you will NOT be able to use Traktor, only vinyl.
So to sum it up, from what I can see from your question, you need an audio interface, a lot of MP3s, a *GOOD* set of headphones (cannot stress that enough.. spend money there, do not skimp) and a LOT of practice.
