Whose life was saved by the torture of Jose Padilla?
Jose Padilla unfit for trial, was indicted on unrelated charges to his arrest. After five years of torture and extreme isolation, his psyche is broken. His arrest, torture, took place in violation of U.S. Law and agreements Geneva. Was justice served in the conviction of Jose Padilla? I think not. If you look dispassionately at the facts, only someone who is conveniently served as a scapegoat to ease the pressure on the government for their mistakes in reading the warning signs not before 9 / 11. The charge of intent to detonate a dirty bomb in a major city and that Padilla was initially arrested at Chicago's O'Hare airport and thrown subsequntly to a military prison in South Carolina without the benefit of an attorney for three years was later dropped for lack of any real evidence. I will not go into all the details the machinations of the Bush administration in this case – if you really want to know, you can read all the sordid details in any of the major newspapers including the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, The Christian Science Monitor and The Washington Post, MSNBC, etc. There is nothing specific in the crime for which he was charged and convicted in the end. Only a vague statement that he and two others had conspired to kidnap, threaten and maul people in a foreign country. No mention of any dirty bomb, do not talk the bombing of any building, no witnesses material to be abducted or harmed in any way. Justice was not notified in any way in the courtroom in Miami. There are some aspects of the article not see face to face with the author, but his completion of the dangers facing this country not because of terrorists by governments who want to restore the old tyranny really hit home. And I would strongly suggest to those who delight in peopole conviction of Jose Padilla to read a little serious and have some deep thinking about where and what the Bush administration is doing to this country.
