The best-selling and Masterton 2006 Polyphonic Ringtones

"Akon Smack That" was the best-selling ringtone of 2006, according to Nielsen Mobile.

2006 should be known worldwide as the year ringtone Mastertones took control of the market. Mastertones are the latest developments in the industry the tone. In short, are the Mastertones original songs that play on the cell phone the same way they do on the radio. This differs from the version oldest polyphonic ringtone which is a musical recreation of the popular song without the lyrics.

Another improvement in the ringtone industry for the year 2006 is the movement away from Mastertones re-done by less popular bands as opposed to the popular original artists. Very often in the past, some buyers were less satisfied when the ring tone that appears singing purchased by "49 Cent" 50 Cent instead. It is clear that music companies have seen the financial opportunities profitable to offer original artist songs ringtone format.

Interestingly, the radio play to obtain a song does not guarantee its success as tone. Mary J. Blige 's "Be Without You" was the most played song on radio in 2006, but not the top 10 chart ringtones. In fact, none of the 10 most played songs appear in the 10 ring tone chart. Clearly, cell phone users have different criteria for what they want hear when your phone rings what they hear on the radio.

The same situation occurs with the artists. Nickelback was the most played band on radio this year but no one did Nickelback song on the charts, ringtone. Country artists like Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney and George Strait were in the top 10 in terms artist airplay, but none of them were popular ringtone format which is dominated by hip-hop.

However, some subjects consistently good old days their way into the list of polyphonic ringtone. The Pink Panther, Mission Impossible, and Halloween theme songs have been common for many years at the top 10 polyphonic ringtone charts. Theme songs are ideal in polyphonic format and do not translate well to Masterton where the sound is essentially the same as there is no point.

Here is the complete list of U.S. tone sales for 2006. The ringtones are broken down by the two most popular formats – mastertones and polyphony.
