Rap music – History and facts revealed
Rap worked its way to mainstream music around the 70s and early 80s. Those who study history rap music roots trace way back in American history when the West African griots or popular poets used to deliver their stories in a rhythmic tone accompanied by drums and other small instruments. Today, the art of rapping has evolved into something that encompasses the cultural dimensions and lifestyle.
Folk roots meet Jamaican style
Rap combines the poetry of the griots with Jamaican toasting style. Roasting is used by Jamaican disc jockeys or DJs to dance parties to persuade people to dance with their music. DJs are the first rappers or MC's (short for master of ceremonies). They speak more of their music to shout slogans like Work it, to work and keep dancing moves continuously promote the dance floor. Soon, toasting became longer and became less dance and more about life and have fun. Contextual, these blows can be struck insults, beatings news, rap message, senseless beatings, and party raps.
This early form of rap increased rapidly to include manual manipulation of the sound system to enhance the experience of dance. It has been said that people dance to the rhythm and lyrics. And so the DJs soon incorporated other techniques like dubbing and scratching to the appeal of rap music. Jamaican toasting copied improved by reducing the side and forth between vocal and instrumental tracks and isolate the pace of danceability. Scratching, however, is done by moving the disc on the turntable from one direction to another and vice versa while the needle is still in the slot.
Luxury Rappers
Rap historians cite young Jamaican Clive Campbell as one of the advocates of rap music when he migrated to the Bronx and brought with him the art of Jamaican toasting. In the Brox, Campbell was known for his monicker, Kool Herc (short for Hercules). Others early rappers rappers were Jamaican toasters such as U Roy, Duke Reid, Sir Coxsone and Prince Buster. The look of rap
From its origins in the domain of the Bronx gang and dances from the center of the ghettos, rap music soon found its way into the mainstream music scene. Soon not only African-Americans were dancing to music rap. Rap became the lyrical reflection of urban life. Rastafari-clad youths wore shirts and jackets paired with large low-riding pants oversized jeans that expose underwear. heavy accessories chain also became part of the rapper look.
Rap, while considered by some as a fad that would eventually lose its appeal, is actually a musical art form that has become a way of expression. percussion modern mouth, vocal improvisation and stripped melody, these elements of rap music that is a unique musical experience.
