The Arboretum – Entertainment rocker is a walk in the park
Nottingham is a bustling city full of attractions and services for residents. But at the same time is very likely to get swept along in a stream of bars, restaurants and activities that compete to lighten your wallet, you're in danger of losing a hidden gem just a ten minute stroll away.
The Arboretum is a historic park that dates to the mid-19th century. Created to preserve a green belt around rapidly growing city, its aim has been to give residents space to relax, clean air and a break from routine.

It is believed that JM Barrie, a resident of Birkland Avenue just a block away in 1883-1884 may have been inspired in their walk by walking to work the magic pen of Peter Pan

The Arboretum Festival brings to life the May Day Bank, laying in the traditional folk music, DJs, street performers and local artists. The end of the month brings the Green Festival – hosting live bands and activities for children with a backdrop of environmental issues and peace. Throughout the year local groups are emitted from the bandstand, concentrations hitting a circuit around the park and massive events like Nottingham Pride.
Once recharged the batteries, you do not have to stay away from diving back into the heart of the city life. Head to the Labyrinth and drink in an eclectic mix of music Live from established and up-and-coming talent with sets from DJs and comedy tours.
Back in the city you stumble upon another live music venue notably, rescue rooms. This nice-looking, plush setting surprisingly comfortable serving big-name crowd-pullers.
Leading the project law for most of 30 years is the grandfather of the live music scene in Nottingham, Rock City. This place has live music on a large scale, and the execution some of the busiest nights of the club. Over the years it has hosted the pop aristocracy, including Blur and Oasis, and the superstars of rock like Pearl Jam and Nirvana. Opened its doors to the reserved Undertones and Iron Maiden in its first week – and, as such, even the lowest student, alternative or 80s themed night is bathed today in an aura of rock legends.
With all this live music echoing around its branches, the Arboretum still has a role today to bring peace one of the strongest corners of the city.
