Teens on board

Families are one of the fastest growing groups of new cruise ships, with more than one million passengers under 18 years of going on a cruise every year. The most important factors in choosing a cruise that fits your family are on board facilities, the itinerary of chosen ship, the cabins, and restaurants. Selecting a cruise line that has a child-friendly, and adolescent-oriented approach will make your holiday stress free and enjoyable for everyone.

Research shows that most of 12-17 years of age prefer the Caribbean. With the warm weather and beaches, that are able to relax, sunbathe, water sports, dolphin encounters, or even go on a boat trip. There are, of course, some shore excursions are excellent, visits to museums, zoos and aquariums. The most important destination is that there is much to do, and for many teens, visiting cathedrals, art galleries or shopping is not always high on the list.

Royal Caribbean Cruise Line is highly appreciated as a cruise line that teenagers love, all ships have dedicated teen area, apart from the Nordic Empress. The areas are divided into two groups of 12-14 and 15-17 years of age. Each of the vessels is very different about what you will find on board the Voyager class and the class containing as much freedom to keep children entertained trampoline, ice skating, and even flow machine Rider (surf simulator).

In the Navigator, Mariner and most of the Freedom Class ships is a salon rooms, a place full of books and computers, where you can simply relax with friends, and the back deck, which is a place for teens to make the sun with friends an exclusive outdoor area just for teenagers. There are activities throughout the day and at night there are discos and nightclubs for teens open from 10.30 am-2am which are the Optix or fuel.

Both groups are free to come and go as they please, and are designed to be a place to relax and chill out with friends, or participate in some great activities. Your children and your friends can participate in anything from themed evenings, for Scratch DJ Academy, Competitions mocktail, Open Mic and talent, Teen barbecues, pool parties, teenagers and even Casino Unplugged Jam Sessions.

Royal Caribbean has introduced YSPA generation also, a spa for 13-17 years of age. Teens can come here (with their parents if they like!) And treated differently, as acne attack facial fruity, Mother and Daughter, or the Father Son and massages, Bake false, Surfers Scrub, Manicure magic, and can even take part in their own Fitness Frenzy classes.

Another cruise line with a great reputation for teen activities is Holland America. They have an outdoor area free just for teens called The Loft if your teen – or you – need a break. This has a private terrace with a waterfall and cave. There are couches where teens can sun during the day and sit under the stars at night. The Oasis is another area, ie, teen discos, karaoke, video games, sports tournaments, trivia contests and movie nights (not available on all Vista class ships though).

Holland America also runs classes for children cooking, here will learn basic cooking techniques, kitchen safety, new ingredients to cook with, while the following specific recipe instructions. These classes are a great way to be practical and learning for talented chefs, food goes from restaurants to favorites in adolescence.

Carnival Cruise Line is also high on the list of cruise lines teen favorites. They have two teen clubs Circle C (12-14 years) and Club O2 (ages 15-17). Carnival Conquest-class vessels have a 1800 square foot dance / nightclub, computers, soda bars, incredible sound systems and over 60 video games. Carnival Conquest, Glory, Valor and Liberty are the largest facilities for adolescents in the Carnival fleet.

No matter what lines cruise you choose, teenagers are not allowed to their cabins, most cabins have family size bunk beds, or you can choose between connecting cabins. It really depends on what type of sleeping arrangements are comfortable, and what kind of cabins are available on selected cruise, but there is plenty of choice.

One of the things I like to cruise for families is that the food is free and available at most times, so that teens do not have to rely on their parents to buy food, or worry about running out of money. You will find dining cruise lines offer flexible, if this is in the main restaurant, or even the smaller places buffet style. You can imagine Jonny Rockets in the Royal Caribbean fleet or the Terrace Grill on Holland America, which offers all the favorites of teenagers as hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, there's always a great selection.

With drinks, the cruise lines offer soda cards or packages, where for a fixed price that can have unlimited soft drinks or juices. Again, each cruise line works differently, and those who do not have these deals, often provide complimentary free drinks anyway. This is another way to give your child the independence they crave so often, especially on holidays. These packages range from $ 4 a day $ 10 a week, it really depends on the cruise lines price.

Taking your teens on a cruise is definitely something we see increasingly seen on cruise ships today, activities, entertainment and services are improving all the time. Your cruise vacation is a time for you and your children to have fun, relax, and the best time of their lives and enable them to take time away from you – and a much needed time away from them!
