Dj Equipment News

How is the radio station equipment modern, how? Do CD players and cartridge go?
I have curiosity as I worked in a radio station back in the 90s, where the old equipment was used. Basically, the mixer with CD players, cartridge phone line, microphone cable, satellite news gathering all connected to it. So what is different about the installation now radio stations? So if we ask what role the team plays to the dj?
CD players still exist, but are mostly dishes gone. Cartridge players are pure history, things of the network is mostly transmitted by satellite and phones are now used in the air to call the basic accessories, but it uses the style modem codecs and ISDN lines for remote controls. At 6 stations where I am Chief Engineer have three computers in each room music control basic and commercial reproduction, recording and editing for playback telephone calls, Internet access, special effects, and most DJ's bring their computers to which we relate to the consoles and networks. I have about 10 satellite receivers for various things, ISDN systems 4, 5 POTS (standard phone Service) for digital audio codecs, T1, microwave and VHF equipment SPS. there is a plate held in storage that I can bring if you really need it, seldom used cassettes, Digital Audio Tape is something already quite old, I have reel to reel machines in service, and even MiniDisc is becoming obsolete. Burn audio CD to keep, and send and receive audio over the Internet. Not the same as when I started 45 years ago!
