Update my PowerMac G5 to Mac Pro?
Hey y'all, I have a PowerMac G5 amazing – Dual 2.5 GHz PowerPC processors – 2x 500 GB drives - 8 GB of RAM (maxed out the computer model) – updated the graphics – etc. .. I found an amazing deal on an open box MacMall Mac Pro through .. basically a Core 8, 2 x 3.0 GHz Quad Core, 4GB RAM, 250GB hard .. by $ 2,400.00 PowerMac Should sell and buy the Pro? Or buy the Pro and maintain both? I have a TV / film studio. Also aluminum iMac running 2. Is it worth keeping the two things? (Especially when you run Qmaster and network rendering ..) If G5 is working for you, save your money! If not, buy the new MacBook Pro will then keep them. OS X Leopard impressive and could easily use a G5 as an emergency backup system, a media and / or server and for Time Machine.
